DNS Leak Test

Check which DNS resolvers your connection is using and whether your VPN may be leaking DNS requests to your internet provider.

The test usually takes about 5–10 seconds.

How does the DNS leak test work?

When you use a VPN, your DNS requests should normally be handled through DNS resolvers intended by your VPN configuration. A DNS leak can occur when DNS requests are instead sent to another resolver, such as one operated by your internet service provider.

This test generates unique random DNS hostnames and monitors which DNS resolvers contact our authoritative DNS server while resolving them.

The detected resolver IP addresses are then displayed together with available network and location information so you can inspect which DNS infrastructure your connection is using.

Privacy & Data Processing

This service processes limited technical information necessary to perform the DNS leak test.

When you run a test, we may process information including DNS resolver IP addresses, your connection IP address for security and rate limiting purposes, DNS query information, and technical request data.

DNS resolver IP addresses may be sent to a third-party IP information service to obtain ISP, organization, and approximate location information.

Test session data is temporary and is automatically removed after a short period of time.
